What You Will Be Doing:
As a Site Technician, you will be responsible for coordinating general on-site activities and performing a broad range of tasks that support the operation and maintenance of mechanical assets and structures within the plant. The role also includes maintaining vegetation control within the plant boundaries. Most duties will be performed outdoors in the field.
Key Responsibilities:
This position will be accountable for:
- Carrying out predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance related to the mechanical systems and structures of the plant.
- Maintaining, calibrating, aligning, troubleshooting, and repairing plant mechanical systems. (Trackers structures that rotates from East to West during the day, as well as conducting mechanical checks and maintenance on equipment and machinery such as tractors, slashers, ATVs, etc.)
- Performing regular inspections and checks to monitor the performance of mechanical assets.
- Recording and closing of maintenance work orders.
- Liaising with the authorised electrical contractor and assist on regular maintenance works as required.
- Carrying out vegetation control activities (ground maintenance, vegetation management, mechanical mowing and pruning, spraying, etc.), in support of the operation and maintenance tasks within the plant.
- Carrying out panel cleaning activities to keep PV panels operating within expected conditions.
- Acting as the company’s on-site PCBU delegate.
- Assisting with the control physical site access, conduct site inductions when required and verify contractor’s competency documentation.
- Ensuring site safety rules and procedures are followed and challenge unsafe or non-compliant behaviours.
- Coordinating emergency response and incident escalation.
- Maintaining site housekeeping and other ad hoc duties as required.
Skills and Experience Required:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in similar roles and trades activities (required).
- Valid Driving Licence (required) for 2 to 4 tons vehicles (C class).
- Experience with mechanical systems used in solar farms (trackers, PV panels structures, module cleaning) or demonstrate a willingness to learn.
- Strong commitment towards safety and quality.
- Computer literate for reporting and/or digital input of maintenance activities (work orders, equipment checks, status checks).
Preference for applicants with experience in the renewable energy industry, such as PV solar farms. Otherwise, farming, industrial or manufacturing experience required.
This role involves physical activity and working outdoors, working as part of a maintenance team assisting with all aspects of operational requirements.
Experience with machinery / tractor operating is preferred, as maintenance activities will involve the driving of vehicles such as tractors, ATVs, zero-turn mowers, as well as the use of other tools and accessories such as brush cutters, pressure washers, spraying equipment. Training will be provided if needed.
