About the role
Gentari Solar Australia is entering a transformative phase of growth and we’re seeking a visionary and commercially driven Energy Markets Manager to lead market analysis, forecasting, power purchase agreement (PPA) product development, origination and negotiation. This role will also establish and oversee Gentari’s energy trading function, ensuring strategic trading execution and effective risk management and. The position plays a critical role in developing new business, optimising and trading Gentari’s renewable energy portfolio.

- Market Analysis & Strategy
- Conduct comprehensive research and analysis of Australian electricity market dynamics, policy trends, customer and competitor activity.
- Identify emerging business opportunities, potential business partnerships, and strategic investment options.
- Assess feasibility of new opportunities and provide recommendations for portfolio optimisation.
- Present insights to guide strategic decision-making and investment planning.
- Electricity price forecasting
- Develop and maintain short-, medium-, and long-term electricity price forecasts using market models, data analytics.
- Monitor wholesale market trends, regulatory changes, and supply-demand dynamics.
- Electricity Offtake Structuring & Origination
- Design and structure PPA products for renewable energy projects (solar, wind, BESS) offtake.
- Model financial impacts under various scenarios, including risk analysis and hedging strategies.
- Originate new PPA business with corporate buyers, retailers and aggregators.
- Negotiate and execute PPAs in collaboration with legal and other internal stakeholders
- Energy Trading
- Establish and lead Gentari’s energy trading function
- Oversee trading strategies, manage market exposure, and implement risk management frameworks.
- Prepare internal pricing models and ensure alignment with market conditions and portfolio objectives.
- Comply with AEMO and market regulations.
- Oversee internal pricing modelling and plexos conversion for revenue forecasting]
- Stakeholder Engagement
- Building strategic partnerships with government, industry, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Representing Gentari in public forums and industry bodies.
Experience and qualifications
- Seasoned leadership and team building skills
- 10+ years’ experience in energy markets, trading, or renewable energy origination.
- Strong understanding of Australian electricity markets and regulatory frameworks.
- Expertise in market modeling, risk management, and PPA structures.
- Proven experience in energy trading and portfolio management.
- Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred)
