Key Responsibilities

  • Identifying and prospecting greenfield projects that meet the company’s project development strategy
  • Due diligence of potential development projects and acquisitions, including travel to sites and desktop assessments for wind and battery opportunities
  • Meet and work with landowners to secure project land
  • Site identification and selection, including assessment of technical specifications, land plans and encumbrances
  • Preparing and managing project development budgets and resources
  • Engage with stakeholders, planning authorities, environmental groups, community groups, and other key project participants
  • Liaison with and management of AEMO and Network Service Providers
  • Assist with planning and environmental risk assessments
  • Engaging, managing and scheduling external consultants for relevant surveys and reports, including developing the preliminary design for the project
  • Preparing and submitting Environmental Impact Statements, planning applications and connection applications
  • Managing key project development items that overlap into the construction of the project
  • Proactively dealing with and solving issues in order to ultimately take the project to shovel ready status for Financial Close
  • Contribution to developing portfolio and resourcing strategy

Skills and Experience Required

  • Strong communication skills
  • Prospecting and development of greenfield renewable energy projects (especially wind projects)
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in renewable energy project development (wind, battery storage) in Australia, with significant exposure to wind projects across key stages, from early identification to Ready-to-Build (RTB)/Shovel-Ready stage
  • Degree in Planning, Science, Engineering or Environmental discipline or a related subject
  • Understanding of planning and environmental impact assessment requirements in different jurisdictions around Australia
  • Experience dealing with AEMO and Network Service Providers
  • Mapping / G.I.S experience advantageous
  • Strong Project Management skills and a highly organised approach to work
  • Skills in negotiation of contracts with landowners (e.g. land purchase or lease options and agreements)
  • Competent IT skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, MS Project, etc)
  • Comes from a large organisation, familiar with large company processes, approvals, and work culture.
  • Extensive experience working in an MNC with HQ in Europe/Asia.
  • Ability to take initiative and confident to work autonomously
  • Current Drivers Licence
  • Able to travel nationally and internationally as required. (work travel for prospecting of new opportunities may be up to 50 % of your time as required at different stages).
  • Presently working in Australia.
