Working closely with the Head of Development and Development Managers, the Community and Stakeholder Engagement Manager will be responsible for aligning day-to-day coordination of community consultation, stakeholder engagement and communications with our overall project development strategy across our renewable energy portfolio in Australia, specifically solar and storage solutions. This role will also be involved in supporting the business to inform its engagement strategy, and support other areas of the business as required including during the construction and operations phases of projects when it comes to community feedback and the company’s integration as a community member.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement community and stakeholder engagement strategies to support the development of the project portfolio including first nation communications to build rapport in the communities we operate in.
  • Develop, implement and coordinate works programs to deliver engagement initiatives to support development activities and promote the brand to build relationships and enhance growth opportunities.
  • Work proactively across the development portfolio to identify opportunities for community focused brand awareness and enhancement.
  • Implement a program of internal stakeholder reporting within the development team to maintain a high level of engagement and awareness of stakeholder activities across the project portfolio.
  • Develop and implement a community and communications strategy to support the delivery of organisational and project strategy and messaging to key stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement community funding opportunities in association with Development Approvals (DA) or other strategic and/or contractual project requirements.
  • Develop and implement a digital and social media strategy, ensuring communication mediums remain current and relevant to the audience in collaboration with the Marketing and Communications Manager
  • Prepare the development, distribution, and maintenance of all print and electronic collateral.
  • Be the face of the company (spokesperson) in the local areas in which we operate across our rural project locations.
  • Coach, support and educate Project Development and Construction Managers and Department Heads to be effective spokespersons in their relevant areas of responsibility and expertise in local areas in which we operate across our rural project locations.
  • Develop and deliver crisis management plan for the company and act as the lead.
  • Provide advice to management on new engagement initiatives to ensure community, stakeholder engagement and communication plans are considered in business planning activities.
  • Develop and guide strategy for all communications mediums and materials to consistently articulate key messages, strategy and mission to staff and external stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain positive and collaborative relationships across the organisation and work as part of cross functional teams as required.
  • Lead and guide other team members to deliver engaging and high-quality communication materials and events related to all assets.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with first nations communities across our asset locations.
  • Coordinate and participate in community open days / consultation requirements for renewable energy projects, ensuring successful engagement with the community.
  • Support the project teams in discussions with all relevant stakeholders including land holders, government authorities, local communities, first nations people, and other stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement university collaboration opportunities in association with projects in alignment with Gentari strategy and any government or project contractual requirements.
  • Act as the company lead on all advocacy workstreams for the company.


Skills and Experience Required

  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in stakeholder and community engagement (preferably with experience in the renewable energy sector managing community engagement requirements)
  • Tertiary qualifications in communications/stakeholder engagement (desirable) and or journalism
  • Certified professional qualifications/training in stakeholder engagement – IAP2 (desirable) or equivalent
  • Collaborative and supportive team member with planning and environmental impact assessment experience in the renewable energy sector
  • Strong capability to relate to communities and develop collateral that presents information in digestible and easy to understand formats
  • Ability to work proactively both autonomously and within a team
  • Ability to operate at a detailed level, to organize and prioritise, with a dedication to seeing projects through to completion
  • Strong time management skills
  • Ability to travel both domestically and internationally as required. Travel expectation: 40%.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills. Media training would be looked upon favourably but not essential
  • Additional skills in related areas will be viewed favourably
  • Australian PR or Citizenship required
  • Valid driving licence required.
