As such, we are seeking a Commercial Analyst to deliver financial insights and strategic analysis for large-scale solar and BESS projects.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Modelling and Analysis:
- Develop, maintain, and improve complex financial models including debt financing to assess project economics, financial feasibility, and return on investment for solar energy projects.
- Analyse financial data, market trends, and economic indicators to provide valuable insights and support strategic decision-making.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements and incorporate inputs from various stakeholders into financial models.
- Investment Analysis:
- Evaluate potential investment opportunities in the renewable energy space, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and partnership agreements.
- Conduct thorough due diligence and financial risk assessments to assess the financial viability and potential returns of investment opportunities.
Financial Reporting and Forecasting:
- Ensure financial models are regularly updated with new energy forecasts to provide budget variance analysis, financial statements, cash flow projections, and other financial performance metrics for internal and external stakeholders.
- Support the Development Team in the preparation of investment presentations and reports for board meetings and other key stakeholders.
- Scenario Analysis and Sensitivity Testing:
- Conduct scenario analysis and sensitivity testing to assess the impact of different variables and external factors on project economics and financial performance.
- Provide recommendations and insights to enhance project profitability and mitigate financial risks.
Skills and Experience Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field. Advanced
- degree (MBA, MS Finance) is a plus.
- 3+ years of relevant experience in financial modelling, financial analysis, and reporting, preferably within the renewable energy industry.
- Proven track record of building and maintaining complex financial models, with a focus on renewable energy projects.
- Strong proficiency in financial analysis, investment appraisal techniques, and sensitivity analysis.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial modelling tools.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to convey complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to work independently and collaboratively in a fast- paced environment.
